Mobile computers over 30 years, on Saturday, 25/08/2012 at 12 in Tiedetila, ScienceFarm
Tiedetila, ScienceFarm organized an event, mobile computers over 30 years. In fact, the first portable computer was the Osborne 1 (1981). Kaypro II was launched one year later. Dream, to meet with portable computers, was true.
Current mobile computer is a laptop, tablet or smartphone. It is lightweight and does not require a continuous power source, such as portable computers did 30 years ago.

- Atte Kotiranta, Head of Studio / Rovio Tampere (Angry Birds) talked about his views of a mobile and mobile games.
In the seminar there were total 26 of participants, including 11 belonging to Mobile 50+ – target group, 7 expertise partners, four Finnish project partner staff and four the staff of Tiedetila. In addition, Skype Conference attended three from Germany, one from Turkey and two from Finland.
On Monday, 10.9.2012 at 18 briefing on Mobile + 50 – course content and learning partnership project “Mobile devices and web 2.0 – new perspective in ICT for digital inclusion in Europe”.

On Thursday, 13.9.2012 meeting with the cultural magazine Aisapuu. Aisapuu magazine is a publication of Pihlajavesi Local History Society and it is published four times a year. During the event the project was presented, ‘Mobile devices and web 2.0 – new perspective in ICT for digital inclusion projects in Europe’.

How to use a tablet PC (15-18 h, 11.9.-9.10.2012 at 17-19:30)
The course was suitable for beginners, especially for elderly people – no previous computer skills vere required. Students learned to use the tablet PC with a touch screen.
For the duration of the course students received a tablet computer.

The course was suitable for beginners, especially for elderly people – no previous computer skills were required. It would be good if you had a computer and internet connection at home. You could take your own tablet or laptop to the course.

Spring 2013 Computer courses

The course was suitable for beginners, especially for elderly people – no previous computer skills were required. Students learned to use the tablet PC with a touch screen.

Digital Camera Photography (15-18 h) Wednesdays, March 20 to April 24, 2013, at 17-19:30
The course was suitable for beginners, especially for elderly people – no previous skills in photography, camera, or computer were required. You could take a camera and a laptop computer to the course. During the week of March 25 to March 31, 2013 students wouldl take photos of their home surraundings. The aim was to take photographs at home and surroundings during one spring day and put images together and make, say, an e-book. For the duration of the course students received a camera.

The aim was to learn how to write blogs and get thousands of readers.

3. Clinics for problematic issues in using computer
The purpose of the clinic was to solve computer problems of learners. The clinic meetings has been held at the request of learners.
The clinic has realized 4 times. Once at student’s home and three times at Tiedetila.
The main problems were: installation of applications, and installing the software. Using the Internet has also been a subject of study. The region does not have a fixed internet and 3G signal is relatively weak.

4. Study of students’ motivations and goals
Mobile 50+ – -Grundtvig Learning Partnership Project
The student’s own assessment of the opportunities and motivation.
Questions, trying to find out what kind of expectations you do have and what kind of computer device would be good for you. All information will be treated confidentially.
This is the starting point of questinaire. There are English, Finish and German versions of it. We hope that all partners would take part in research. It takes half an hour to translate the questionaire to your language.
Subjects in Finland
Finnish sample consists of 4 groups, in this stage of the investigation. Two groups studied information processing at Tiedetila and two other groups studied English at Sastamala Community College. All students were senior aged.
Group 1, Students had not earlier experience with computers (Tiedetila).
Mean of the birth was year 1944, average age was 69 years, 5 women and 2 men
Group 2, Students had the basic skills to use a computer (Tiedetila).
Mean of the birth was year 1944, average age was 68 years, 5 women and 2 men.
Group 3, Students had the basic skills to use a computer (SCC).
Mean of the birth was year 1945, average age was 67 years, 2 women and 6 men (10).
Group 4, Students had the basic skills to use a computer (SCC).
Mean of the birth was year 1945, average age was 67 years, 5 women and 2 men (12).
Total number of students 36.
